How to set up Consistent Help for your site

Overview

Consistent Help gives website owners a simple way to present clear, predictable support options for users with cognitive disabilities or ADHD. When enabled, accessWidget displays a help panel with your website’s contact details whenever a user activates the Cognitive or ADHD accessibility profile.

This feature is designed to help website owners conform to WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 3.2.6: Consistent Help, which recommends providing a stable and familiar way to reach assistance across a website.

Note: Consistent Help is currently not supported on mobile devices.

How Consistent Help works

When a user activates the Cognitive or ADHD profile:

  • A help panel appears in the upper-left corner of the website.
  • The user selects Enter to view the contact information you provided.Screenshot of website help details
  • The help panel stays available across pages during the session, helping users quickly find support if they need it.

How to set up Consistent Help for your site

You must enable and configure Consistent Help for each website license.

To set up Consistent Help for your site

  1. In the Customer Portal, go to My Licenses and select a license.
  2. Go to Install and customize widget.
  3. Scroll to the Website help details section.
  4. Select a help type to add and enter the relevant link or details:
    • Support page
    • FAQ page
    • Contact email
    • Contact phone
    • Operation hours
    • Contact page
    • Chat support

  5. Select How it works to understand how website visitors use the feature to find support.

Once saved, accessWidget will display your help panel whenever a user activates the Cognitive or ADHD profile.

Tips

  • Offer multiple ways to contact your team so users can can choose the format that works best for them.
  • Keep support links and details updated.
