Adding alt text to images is an important part of making websites accessible. Alt text allows people who use screen readers to understand the content and purpose of images.
AI-generated alt text suggestions in accessFlow help you save time, particularly for pages with lots of images, and more easily conform with WCAG guidelines.
Alt text suggestions now appear directly in the remediation panel whenever an image is missing a description. If the first suggestion isn’t suitable, the user can regenerate the suggestion up to three times.
To use AI generated alt text
- Select an issue that is missing alt text.
- Scroll down to Alt text generator and review the suggested text.
- Regenerate if needed (up to three times), then cycle through the options to choose the best one.
The chosen description is added directly to the suggested fixed source code. - Add the fix to your source code.
Always review the generated text and make adjustments if needed.
You can help improve future AI-generated alt text by providing selecting the thumbs up or thumbs down icon to rate a suggestion. Your feedback actively contributes to improving the quality and relevance of alt text suggestions for everyone.
Good alt text should:
- Accurately describe the image
- Convey the purpose or context, not just the appearance
- Be concise and easy to understand
Tip: Don't use alt text for decorative images.
